CPM condems arrest of unemployed graduate teachers

Puducherry, May 22 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today strongly condemned the arrest of the unemployed graduate teachers who were on fast for the last few days and demolition of the pandal used by them.

In a resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting of the party here today, it urged the administration to fill up the vaccant teachers post on seniority basis. It also congratulated the DYFI and AIYF for taking up the issue of the unemployed gaduate teachers.

Another resolution urged the administration to continue with the free rice scheme and the party noted with concern that the free rice was not distributed for the last two months.

Yet another resolution urged the administration to make available six essential commodities through the ration shops at a subsidised rate. The meeting noted that there was no sense in supplying essential commodities through the ration shops at the open market rate and it also resolved to organise agitations in front of 30 ration shops in Puducherry and Karaikal region on May 30 to press the demand. Party Secretatry V Perumal said in a statement here today.
