BJP accuses SDF government of failing in all fronts

Gangtok, May 22 (UNI) Downplaying the 'tall' claims of ruling SDF in Sikkim on completion of three years of its third term, state BJP unit today said the government has 'failed' in all fronts.

State BJP general secretary C B Chettri in a press release said the SDF government had failed to get the reservation for the Limboo and Tamang tribes the Assembly.

He also alleged that State Commission for Backward Classes, appointed by the SDF government, had not recommended to included the Chettri, Bahun, Newar and Sanyasi in the OBC list.

The opposition party also accused the SDF government of failing miserably to eradicate poverty.

'' People are made to depend on government largesse by holding Janta Melas despite the claim to make each family a lakhpati by 2004,'' the release stated.

It also accused the government of putting the state in a debt of Rs 1800 crores by March 2008 despite Centre's assistance of Rs 1237 crores for this fiscal.

'' This means that even a new born baby will have a debt of Rs 33,000 and each family Rs 1.62 lakh,'' the party claimed.
