Puducherry, May 22 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary and A Anbazhagan, MLA, today alleged that the territorial administration lacked a stable policy in respect of private medical colleges in the Union Territory.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan, to drive home his point said the government could not obtain 50 per cent seats in the medical colleges.

The AIADMK leader charged Chief Minister and others with enacting a drama on the issue as if they have become partners in the colleges.

He alleged that students were admitted to the Lakshminarayana Medical College here even without the university affiliation.

Demanded that all tenders in the Public Works Department be floated through internet on the lines adopted for toddy and arrack shops, he said this would save at least 30 per cent wastage of government exchequer.

He pointed out that the ten kg free rice scheme was not being properly implemented and the foodgrain was being provided on instalment basis.

The government had failed to provide Rs 2.30 lakh for the tsunami-affected fishermen to construct their houses, he said and demanded that the Chief Minister should give an explanation in repsect of the two schemes within ten days, failing which, the party would organise agitations.

He said the legislators had supported the conferring of special category state status to the Union Territory, but Chief Minister, while adopting the resolution had changed it to seek more powers to the ministry.
