Itanagar, May 22 (UNI) The demand for creation of two Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in the state has intensified with people resorting to massive public rallies.

The two ADCs are proposed to be created in Tirap-Changlang and Tawang-West Kameng districts.

Over 2,600 people belonging to various communities of Tawang and West Kameng districts led by their elected leaders took out a massive rally at Bomdila yesterday demanding the immediate creation of ADCs.

The demand for ADCs was raised in the Assembly last year by Wanglin Lowangdong demanding ADC for the four backward districts.

However, 19 legislators of those districts had constituted a Joint Legislature Forum for the purpose and univocally pleaded the state government to pursue the Centre to honour their demand.

Forum convenor T G Rinpoche announced that all its members would abide by the decision even at the cost of 'losing their respective MLA seat'.

While explaining in detail about the aims and objectives of the committee and steps taken to achieve the same, Mr Rinpoche informed that memorandum for ADCs had already been submitted to UPA chairman Sonia Gandhi and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.

The state Assembly had passed the bill for ADCs in 2004, he said.

''Autonomy region status would solve problems in the fields of education, economy and social development,'' Lok Sabha MP Kiren Rijiju informed.

Mr Rijiju said they would organise dharna in front of Parliament during monsoon session.
