11 gm of gold chain removed from cow's stomach
Sirsi, Karnataka, May 22 (UNI) In a rare operation, a team of veterinary doctors here recently removed from the stomach of cow a gold chain, weighing 11 grams which it had swallowed three years ago.
The bovine had swallowed the chain worn around its neck by its owner during Deepawali festival in 2004.
The owner, who hoped that the chain would come out along with the dung, got worried as it never happened.
After a long three-year wait, he consulted Veterinary Department Assistant Director Govinda Bhat, who suggested a operation to remove the chain from the animals stomach.
Meanwhile, it gave birth to a calf.
Though the owner initially did not agree to the operation, he subsequently agreed as the cow's health deteriorated.
