LONDON, May 21 (Reuters) British anti-terrorism police investigating the July 7, 2005 attacks on London transport charged a man with possessing an al Qaeda training manual.

Khalid Khaliq, 34, was one of four people arrested on May 9.

The others were freed last week without charge, including the wife of one of the suicide bombers who killed 52 commuters in the 2005 attacks on three underground trains and a bus.

Khaliq is from the Beeston area of Leeds in northeast England, home of several of the bombers.

A police spokesman said Khaliq would appear before magistrates today charged with possession of ''a document or record, namely the al Qaeda training manual, containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.'' ''The charges don't refer to 7/7 but obviously it's part of the same investigation,'' he said, referring to the July 2005 attacks.

Nearly two years after the attacks, British police say their investigation is still in full gear. Three people were charged last month with conspiring with the bombers.
