Two dead in two different accidents

Akola, May 21 (UNI) Two persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Akola district during last 24 hrs, police said.

A bicycle rider and his two donkeys were killed when a speedy Tata sumo dashed against them near village Vyala on NH No.6 on Akola-Balapur road yesterday, police said.

The cyclist was escorting his two donkeys along the road when the mishap took place. He was identified as Ramratan Jadhan.

Sanjay Purke, driver of the Tata sumo and a resident of Khadki district in Yeotmal earlier absconded from the spot of the accident but later he surrendered to police here.

In another incident, a motorbike rider was killed and the pillion rider injured when a truck dashed against his vehicle in Malegaon ghat near Patur on Akola Washim road yesterday. The incident took place when two trucks were overtaking each other on the ghat.

The deceased motorbike rider was identified as Vikram Devdesmukh (27), while the pillion rider Deepak Manikrao Deshmukh of Akola has been hospitalised, police said.

The truck driver is absconding. The police registered an offence against the unknown truck driver.
