Tripura to train Bhutanese artisans on Bamboo technology

Agartala, May 21 (UNI) The Bhutan government today urged the Tripura government to train their artisans on making bamboo and cane products, official sources said here today.

Bhutan Deputy Forest Commissioner Khuyen Jung Fiyar along with a 19-member delegation on a five-day visit to Tripura said, '' We are willing to send our artisans here for training on bamboo technology.'' Mr Fiyar further praising the handicraft of Tripura, said the people here had a rare artistic skill and their bamboo and cane products were among the best in the world for their exquisite designs and elegance.

Bhutan had huge quantity of bamboo but due to inadequate skill and lack of training of the artisans, most of the bamboo was not utilised.

Meanwhile, State Forest Minister Jitendra Choudhury said Bhutan had requested Tripura to send a group of artisans to the Himalayan kingdom initially to meet the Bhutanese artisans.
