Tripura militant outfit warns rapists to surrender

Agartala, May 21: The National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) today issued a warning against some absconding tribal youths, who had allegedly gang-raped eight Reang girls in South Tripura on May 12.

NLFT's press secretary Onkthai condemned the gang-rape and alleged that nine tribal youths of were behind the crime.

NLFT officials said altogether 11 youths were arrested by police so far while two of the masterminds were still absconding.

Mr Onkthai threatened that unless the absconders surrendered immediately, the NLFT would take action against them.

The youths allegedly raped the girls on May 12, when they were returning from a village fair at the remote Dalak area of South Tripura and beat up two younger brothers of a victim.

However, police said the investigation was on.
