K'taka: Thalacauvery opened for piligrims

Madikeri, May 21: Thalacauvery, the birthplace of Cauvery river, was opened for pilgrims for having holy bath.

Thalacuvery was closed since April for renovation in the bath pond and the holy 'Kundike'. All the renovation works are now completed and the pond is open for devotees.

The delicate repair works was guided by the Neeleshwara Padmanabha Thanthri to Kushanlnagar's PG Construction company workers. He guided the religious and traditional ways while reconstruction through laterite stones and instructed the contractors to leave the source of water from various regions including the Brahhmagiri hills and also from Shri Agastyeshwara temple centre.

The water sources in the holy 'Kundike' and the bathing pond was comparatively improved and the pure and clean water inflow could be seen now.

All these delicate work were managed by the Karnataka Cauvery Development Authority and it's adviser former PWD Chief Engineer T D Manmohan who took special interest in consulting geologists and all other experts before taking up the work. The organizers are now relieved of the fear of finding the water source and conducting the repairs in the Cauvery source. Cauvery being the National river, has the highest care and the involved people are cheerful to open the temples for devotees.

At Thalacuavery, all other infrastructural work was almost under completion. However, the work at Bhagamandala, the 'Sangama' centre was still going on. The whole project may be completed before the year end.
