Karnataka: Thalacauvery opened for pilgrims

Madikeri, May 21: Thalacauvery, the birth place of river Cauvery was opened for pilgrims for having a Holy bath.

Thalacauvery was closed since April for renovation of the bathing pond and the Holy 'Kundike'.

The delicate repair works were guided by the Neeleshwara Padmanabha Thanthri to Kushanlnagar's PG Construction Company workers. He followed the religious and traditional ways for the reconstruction with laterite stones and instructed the contractors to leave the sources of water from various regions, including the Brahmagiri Hills and Shri Agastyeshwara temple centre.

The water sources in the holy 'Kundike' would now have pure and clean water.

The delicate works were managed by the Karnataka Cauvery Development Authority(KCDA) and it's adviser former PWD Chief Engineer T D Manmohan, who consulted geologists and other experts before taking up the work.

However, the work at Bhagamandala, 'Sangama' centre was yet to be completed.
