Sugarcane farmers to protest, with Sena backing them
Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) The sugarcane farmers will stage protest rallies in various parts of the state tomorrow, demanding higher cost for their crops, with Shiv Sena backing them.
The farmers are demanding an compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare from the government, according to a party press release The state government had announced a price of Rs 1,250 per ton to the farmers but was giving only Rs 900 per ton. The Shiv Sena is supporting the farmers and will demand the announced price of sugarcane for the farmers in the rally.
The protest will take place at Azad Maidan here and in parts of Western Maharashtra, the release added.
