Railway staff not responsible for Maurya Express accident
New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) The May 2 collision of Maurya Express with a tractor trolley between Bhatpar Rani and Bankata stations in Uttar Pradesh, in which four people were killed, was due to 'failure of person other than Railway staff', provisional findings have revealed.
The train had collided with a tractor trolley at an unmanned level crossing on Bhatni-Chapra Kachery section of North Eastern Railway, killing four people. Nine people sustained grievous injuries and two others had minor injuries in the accident.
Mr R K Kardam, Commissioner of Railway Safety, North Eastern Circle, Lucknow who held a statutory inquiry into the collision, held that the accident occurred due to ''failure of person other than Railway staff''.
The findings of the preliminary report were under the consideration of the government, a Railway Ministry official said today.
