Precaution aganist water crisis in Krishna district
Machilipatnam, May 21 (UNI) All precautionery measures were taken to meet the possible drinking water problem in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh this summer, according to Rural Water Scheme (RWS) Superientendent Engineer Pathurai Venkateswarlu.
He told UNI here today that in the district about 1289 RWS, 29 CPW schemes where implemented and sinking of 8,487 boar wells was taken up to augment drinking water supply. There was no shortrage of drinking water in the district, he said.
Rs one crore was sanctioned to supply drinking water in the affected villagers. About 80 coastal villages, including Kolleru lake island villages have been procuring water through tankers, he said.
In 20 coastal villages, 200 filter points were repaired with an expenditure of Rs1.65 crore by the RWS engineers.
He said a proposal at an estimated cost of Rs 14.4 crore was sent to government to fecilitate the drinking water in 60 brackishwater and fluoride affected villages in the district.
