Police prohibit pillion driving during nights
Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) The city police today regulated the movement of persons on two-wheelers during night times in the limits of all the 17 police stations in the city in view of the law and order situation in Hyderabad City following the incident of bomb explosion at Mecca Masjid.
City Police Commissioner Ballwinder Singh in a statement said in view of the bomb blast in Mecca Masjid and the communal incidents reported from some other parts of the state, it was felt necessary to regulate the movement of persons on two-wheelers during night times. With a view to maintain public order and peace in the city, it was decided to prohibit pillion riding on two-wheelers except where the pillion rider was a woman or a child below the age of 14 years in the limits of the 17 police stations of Hyderabad City.
The order shall remain in force between 2300 hrs and 0600 hrs on the intervening nights of May 21 and May22 and May 22 and May 23 only.
Any persons requiring exemption from the above order may obtain specific permission from the SHOs of the Police Stations having jurisdiction in writing by producing copies of Driving Licence and Registration Certificate book.
Any person violating the order shall be liable for prosecution under the law, he said.
