PM approves wage board for journalists

New Delhi, May 21: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has approved the constitution of a wage board for working journalists.

A final order in this regard will be issued shortly by the Union Labour Ministry, a PMO official said.

Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes had told reporters early this month that his ministry had finalised the setting up of a wage board for journalists and non-journalists. The announcement from the PMO came a day before the scheduled march to Prime Minister's house by journalist and non-journalist organisations in the capital to protest the delay in the constitution of the wage board.
