Pantone expects 30 per cent growth in India by 2008

Mumbai, May 21 (UNI) Apparel Export Promotion Council of India (AEPC), a Government body entrusted with promoting the textile and apparel industry, and Pantone Inc, one of the global colour provider of professional colour standards, today unveiled the colours for the coming few seasons, called 'Letting Go- Summer Trends 2008'.

Pantone, introduced the swatch card costing USD 8.25. Vice President Fashion and Home, Pantone, Tod Schulman said that the company already has a two digit growth in India at around 20 per cent and is expecting a growth of 30 per cent by 2008.

'Pantone's Colour Solution Seminar', featuring their SMART New Cotton System, is a concrete step towards achieving standardization and uniformity of colours within the colour industry, Regional Director, AEPC, Jagannathan here told mediapersons. He said, "This event will help the Indian textile and garment industry by bringing about various colour combinations that are going to be a ready reckoner for this industry.

"Clariant International, one of the leading textile colourant and chemical producers, also announced their partnership with Pantone Inc. that will promote colour development in the textile industry.

The event brought together exporters, creators and manufacturers on a platform to address the issues of establishing protocols that will enable the users to take advantage of technology and workflow advancements on a global basis.

Schulman, said "This event will help establish the protocols that have been lacking in this industry. It will help all the parties involved to achieve a level of standardization and enhance the productivity levels. Colour management is difficult. So we wanted to integrate and embrace the changes, act as a bridge between creator and manufacturer to manage the colour development process effectively." The Summer Trends for 2008 unveiled colours that are likely to reveal the imagination of creators and designers in the coming seasons. White, Black&Blue, Gray, Blue, Red, Pink, Green, Yellow&Gold and Orange are projected to be the colours of the season.
