Nigerian arrested with forex worth Rs 10 crore
New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) A Nigerian national was today intercepted by sleuths of the Income Tax Department at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here while trying to smuggle out foreign currency worth about Rs ten crore.
The Lagos-bound passenger was 'caught' by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Income Tax Department early morning today while he was to board the Ethopian Airlines flight, said an official 'release'.
Search of his baggage led to the recovery of 2.27 million US dollars (nearly Rs ten crore), the release added.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said the 'accused' was from the Nigerian High Commission and was 'let off' as he enjoyed diplomatic immunity.
