Muslims down shutters over Hyderabad blast

Varanasi, May 21 (UNI) Muslim traders here today shut down shutters over the May 18 blast at the historic Mecca mosque of Hyderabad and killing of protestors in police firing after the blast.

Shops and business establishments remained closed in the Muslim dominated localities of Dalmandi, Madanpura, Reori Talao, Benia and Nai Sarak.

Special prayers were organised at different mosques, including the Langde Hafiz ki Masjid to pray for peace to those killed in the blast.

A procession led by BSP leader Nasir Jamal saw Muslims in large numbers wearing black bands and carrying black flags against ''high handedness'' of the Andhra Pradesh government in dealing with the blast and its after effects.

Black flags could also be seen in some Muslim localities marking a symbolic protest against the blast.
