MRPS activists arrested for blocking traffic
Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) Even as Andhra Pradesh Government was holding an all-party meeting on the demand of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) for categorisation of the Scheduled Castes, activists of the MRPS today staged a dharna on the busy RTC crossroads.
Police personnel tried to convince the activists to clear the place and leave peacefully, but when they did not heed, they used force to disperse them and arrested the leaders.
In Guntur district, MRPS activists allegedly set on fire the records of the MRO's office in Amrutaluru village. On seeing the fire, locals rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze, minimising the damage.
