Mayawati and Mulayam did not exchange pleasantries
Lucknow, May 21 (UNI) Political bitterness between Chief Minister Mayawati and Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav was so evident that what to speak of exchanging greetings, the two leaders avoided eye contact on the opening day of the Vidhan Sabha session today.
Both the leaders exchanged pleasantries with the members of BSP and SP but when it came to coming face to face with each other, they turned away to avoid even a glance.
Today was the first close encounter of the present and the former Chief Minister but the political animosity between the two got better of the personal gestures.
Ms Mayawati and Mr Yadav remained in the house during the Governor's joint address and after that both of them were not present in the house.
Coincidentally, it would be the first occasion that both the leaders would be sitting right opposite each other as Mayawati was not the leader of the oppsoition during Mulayam's regime and vise-versa. Mulayam would function as the leader of the opposition for the first time when Mayawati is the Chief Minister.
During Governor's address, Mayawati was seen smiling and even thumping the desk when the former spoke about the anarchy during Mulayam's regime, however, the SP leader excercised composure and sat emotionless during the address.
