Chennai, May 21 (UNI) AIADMK Supremo Jayalalithaa today flayed the Anna University for not adopting proper measures in issue of applications which created a 'chaotic' situation and urged the state government to open counselling centres in other cities in the state.

In a statement here, she said many of the students were not able to obtain application forms for admission even after waiting in long queues for several hours, which showed the university had lost its capability to plan its admission procedure in a proper manner.

While claming out the government's plan to conduct counselling in Chennai alone which would result in expenditure to students and create more problems besides psychologial and physical difficulties, she damanded counselling be conducted in Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli and Coimbatore as was done earlier.

Some of the students who managed to buy application forms were not given the prospectus, she claimed adding there were only two counters for issuing applications.

All the engineering colleges were brought under the Anna University during the AIADMK regime and the institution gained international repute after that, she claimed adding dividing it into four entities has resulted in confusion.

Ms Jayalalitha also alleged the state government knew well in advance that applications should be distributed after the plus-two results were published on May 14, but it did not make the required arrangements.
