Heatwave conditions prevail in AP

Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) Heat wave conditions prevailed in East Godavari, West Godavari, Guntur, Khammam, Krishna and Prakasham Districts.

A report from Rajahmundry said the city suffered yet another oppressive day today with mercury touching 48.5 degrees celcius, one degree less than yesterday.

A report from Vijayawada said the city had no respite from the heatwave conditions for the 12th day today with the maximum, temperatures reaching more than 43 degrees celsius in several parts of the district.

According the met officials, the heatwave conditions in the coastal region would continue for two more days. The city continued to be hot as the maximum temperature recorded was 45 degrees celsius.

Visakhapatnam City recorded the highest temperature in this season when the mercury touched 41.9 degrees celcius today.

Meanwhile, isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema while the weather over Telangana was mainly dry.

The amounts of rainfall recorded are: Cheepurupalli and Vizianagaram (three cm each) and Satyaveedu (two cm).

Maximum temperatures rose at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed little over Telangana and Rayalaseema yesterday.

The highest maximum temperature of 47 degrees celcius was recorded at Khammam.
