HC dismisses former Cong MLAs bail plea

Chandigarh, May 21(UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of former Congress MLA Jasbir Singh alias Dimpa.

The bail plea came up for hearing before the single Bench of Justice Surinder Singh Saron.

Dimpa had sought the bail in connection with the case registered against him on January 29 this year, when a clash between Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate supporters took place in the Beas assembly constituency, resulting in the death of Dilbagh Singh a supporter of Akali candidate Manjinder Singh Kang. Kang later defeated Dimpa in the polls.

The petitioner's last hope now is the apex court where he could appeal, else he would have to surrender before the police.
