Chandigarh, May 21 (UNI) The Haryana government has earmarked Rs 9.33 crore to construct 400 Anganwadi centres under a special scheme during the current financial year.

The scheme is aimed at constructing Anganwadi centres in those villages which have 50 per cent or more population of Scheduled Castes, Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kartar Devi said today.

These Anganwadi centres would be constructed without any contribution from local panchayats or the people of the area in the state.

The scheme would benefit the weaker sections of the society by bringing them under the ambit of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, she added.

The government has already been implementing a scheme to construct buildings for Anganwadi centres so as to provide clean environment to children. Each such building costs Rs 2.33 lakh including cash contribution of Rs 25,000 by the people of the area.

The government had released Rs 5.33 crore during the past financial year to construct 256 Anganwadi centers.
