GM to launch diesel Chevy Optra soon

New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) General Motors (GM) India today said it plans to lauch Chevrolet Optra TCDi by next month which will be the most powerful luxury sedan in its price band.

''We are in the final stages of bringing the newest member of the Optra family to the market. It will be manufactured at out Hatol plant,'' said Vice President General Motors India P Balendran.

The new diesel variant TDCi (Turbocharged Common Rail Direct Injection) engine utilises second generation common rail technology, in which diesel fuel is injected at a very high pressure. This results in more efficient combustion and the new engine boast of exhaust gas recirculation system for clean and efficient operation.

''The performance of the Optra Diesel being launched by us will far exceed the expectations of our customers and be an absolute delight,'' said Mr Balendran.
