DU proposes to set up students' village
New Delhi, May 21 (UNI) The Delhi University has sent a proposal to the University Grants Commission (UGC) to set up a students' village, comprising hostels for under-graduate and post-graduate pupils, near the campus.
''Outstation students, particularly women, face a lot of problem when it comes to accommodation. It is also not safe for women. If the proposal is passed we can have this new student's village,'' DU Vice Chancellor Deepak Pental told a news conference.
He said 30 to 40 acres of land had been identified in Mukherjee nagar, about 3 kms from the campus, for the purpose.
''If the project is approved we will be able to provided safe accommodation to our students,'' he added.
