Developmental activities taken up under JNNURM

Imphal, May 21 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today said that developmental activities were taken up as per the City Development Plan prepared for Imphal city under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission(JNNURM).

Speaking in the Assembly, he said these were related to tourism, environment, heritage, water supply, transportation, drainage, sanitation, solid waste and capacity building.

The preparation of detailed project reports will commence as soon as the ministry of Urban Development releases the list of empanelled consultancy firms, Mr Ibobi said. Implementation will follow after the proposals were approved by the union government, he added.

Replying to another question he said the government had acquired land for construction of mini Secretariat at Tamenglong and Rs 36 crores were sanctioned.

He said till May 2007 the government received claims of 665 cases for ex-gratia payment. About 583 cases were cleared.

In Manipur there are 70,526 persons benefiting from old age pension scheme, it was further stated. The CM also laid a copy of medium term fiscal policy statement. Discussions for supplementary demands of grants for 2007-08 for various departments were also taken up.
