Cross-firing between BSF, BDR in West Bengal
Basirhat, May 21 (UNI) Heavy firing were exchanged between the BSF and Bangladesh Rifles for two successive nights near the bordering village of Amudia and its adjoining areas under Swarupnagar police station in North 24 Parganas.
Cross-firings began since on May 19, when BSF objected to the construction of a wall by the BDR along side the international border, police said today.
BSF earlier objected to BDR's construction of such wall without going through a joint meeting.
Reacting to the objection, BDR later on that night started firing across the border which BSF retaliated.
Both sides were involved in few hundred rounds of cross-firing last night. However, no casualty was reported so far, police said.
