CM's warns paddy field fillers

Palakkad, May 21 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said a stringent Law would be enacted against reclamation of paddy fields in the state.

Addressing a public meeting organised in connection with the Kerala State Karshaka Tozhilali Union (KSKTU) meeting here, he said necessary action in this regard would be taken in the next Assembly session.

Stating that sand mafias and paddy field fillers were destroying Kerala, the Chief Minister warned that the government would not allow them to continue with their activities.

The Munnar action was an indication and warning to all illegal encroachers that any big guns could be evicted from government land.

Mr Achuthanandan said necessary provisions to increase agricultural workers pension and agriculture welfare fund would be made in the next Budget.
