Sehore, MP, May 21 (UNI) Two brides, who were unhappy about their father being beaten up, refused to accompany their grooms and demanded divorce even after the latter arrived for a second time.

On April 29, wedding parties from Shujalpur and this district's Tomdi village arrived at Ichhawar Nagar-resident Meherban Singh's place. However, when the wedding parties were preparing to leave after the ceremonies the following day, a fight ensued and Singh was beaten up after he attempted to intervene.

Following the fight, the brides' side refused to let the newly-wed brides leave despite pleas by the grooms' side.

The Grooms Jeetendra and Elam, approached the police's Family Counselling Centre. Yesterday, Centre Superintendent Rajkumar Gupta and Inspector Lakshmi Kushwah attempted to forge an understanding between brides Babita and Reena who demanded divorce. Their parents also supported their decision.
