BJP state executive passes resolution lauding Khanduri govt
Hardwar, May 21 (UNI) The BJP has commended the performance of the B C Khanduri government in Uttarakhand for providing a ''responsive, accountable and transparent administration'' in the state.
The two-day meeting of the party's state executive, held for the first time after the assembly elections, concluded here last evening after passing political and economic resolutions. The meeting, presided over by the state unit chief and former chief minister B S Koshyari, also discussed ways and means to ensure close co-ordination between the government and the organisation.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, Major Gen Khanduri said it was the top priority of the government to make the Ganga and the Yamuna free from pollution, at least in Uttarakhand.
On the Setu Samundram project, National spokesperson and in-charge of party affairs in the state Ravi Shankar Prasad said the party was not opposed to it. ''However, we think instead of demolishing Ram Setu, which was a mythological and cultural heritage, the government should work out an alternative design for the project. We shall not tolerate any affront to Hindu sentiments.
The sant community is with us on the issue,'' he said.
