Andhra Bank launches mobile biometric ATMs

Hyderabad, May 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah today launched two mobile biometric ATMs of Andhra Bank here to cater to the needs of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Launching the ATMs, Mr Rosaiah lauded the Andhra Bank for taking the initiative and said the mobile ATM with biometric access would go a long way in stablizing the concept of financial inclusion.

He said illiterates would be able to operate the ATM with biometric access as the customers would be guided by voice in local languages.

Bank Chairman and Managing Director K Ramakrishnan said the mobile ATMs would be shortly introduced at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Kakinada, Kottayam, Madavakham, Tiruttani and Karaikudi during 2007-08.

He said the bank proposed to have 1000 ATMs apart from 200 biometric ATMs and 20 mobile ATMs with biometric access by 2010 as per its vision.

To avail biometric access, the customers have to register his or her fingerprint with the branch where he or she was maintaining the account.
