Abandoned suitcase creates flutter in Chennai airport

Chennai, May 21 (UNI) An unclaimed suitcase abandoned at the parking area of the airport here today created panic among the public and kept the security personnel and airport officials on tenterhooks.

A passer-by, who noticed the suitcase lying in the parking bay informed the matter to the police.

A police team along with the bomb disposal squad carefully examined the suitcase but nothing harmful materials were found, police sources said.

Meanwhile, Suresh, a passenger approached the police officials and claimed that the suitcase belonged to him. He said he came from Singapore to Chennai via New Delhi with three suitcases and one of the baggage went missing during transportation at the parking bay.

After a thorough verification, the police handed over the suitcase to Suresh Kumar with a warning. The security personnel and other officials heaved a sigh of relief, police added.
