Pondy: 56 arrested for road block

Puducherry, May 21: Fiftysix unemployed graduate teachers and volunteers of the DYFI and DPI were arrested when they put up a road block here today to press their demands.

The unemployed graduate teachers, who are on an indefinite fast for the last four days, were demanding filling up of the teachers posts on seniority basis.

Meanwhile, volunteers of the All India Central Council for Trade Unions (AICCTU) held a demonstration in front of the ESI Corporation here to protest against the failure of the corporation to initiate action against industrial units which failed to provide ESI facilities to the workers in the units.
