Villagers overpower three robbers

Hoshiarpur, May 20 (UNI) Three motorcycle-borne youths who snatched a purse containing a mobile phone and Rs 5000 in cash from Ms Kashmir Kaur of village Khabra were overpowered by the villagers and handed over to the Garhshankar police, police today said.

According to the police sources, three motorcycle borne robbers, who were identified as Sarabjit Singh and Joginder Singh, both of Kalewal Lalian and Pardeep Kumar of Bhajal, last evening snatched a purse containing a mobile phone and Rs 5000 cash from Kashmir Kaur while she was waiting for a bus at the bus stop of village Khabra. She immediately raised an alarm and the village inhabitants chased and overpowered the trio.

They were later booked under sections 382 and 34 of the IPC.
