New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) Ruling out her return to the BJP, Bharatiya Jan Shakti leader Uma Bharti today said the saffron party's ''move to ride back to power'' on the ''Ramsetu'' issue would fall flat as it had abandoned ''Ram'' in the very first place.

Talking to mediapersons at the felicitation ceremony of her lone MLA from Uttar Pradesh here, Ms Bharti said it was the BJP which stopped the 'Ramsetu' project initiated by her as the minister in the NDA government and now its bid to rake up the issue to win political mileage would boomerang.

''BJP is a party of traitors -- it abandoned 'Ram' for the lust of power, it betrayed some of its staunch followers for the sake of new power managers and even the 'Ramsetu' when the issue first came up while it was in power.'' Stating that her BJS would not let the 'Ramsetu' get demolished, the firebrand leader said she would fight tooth and nail to protect the ancient heritage of the country which was lakhs of years old.

''I will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and persuade him to spare the 'Ramsetu' as several viable options were available for the project,'' she said.

Reiterating her 'Sangh' credentials the estranged BJP leader said her 'Ram and Roti' slogan would see her through in Uttar Pradesh and the field was now wide open there as Ms Mayawati's government would fail soon -- belying people's mandate and aspirations due to corrupt ministers in her cabinet.

''One cannot fight crime with criminals at the helm,'' she asserted.

The BJS party would take along the poor, weaker sections and the backward classes along with it to provide a clean administration in and would form the government on its own in Madhya Pradesh, she added.
