Sena-BJP Marathwada bandh evokes mixed response
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 20 (UNI) The Marathwada bandh call given by the Shiv Sena-BJP combine in protest against yesterday's police lathicharge on BJP workers evoked a mixed response today.
The police had lathi charged the BJP workers who along with the BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde were trying to enter the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) where the Kharif review meeting was in progress. About 24 BJP workers sustained injuries in the police lathi charge.
To register their protest against the police action and to draw attention of people toward the sugarcane crisis the Sena-BJP combine had called Marathwada bandh today. The Sena-BJP leaders moved around the city requesting traders to participate in the bandh.
No untoward incident was reported from the region during the bandh.
