Newspaper bodies welcome MP's Public Relations Policy
Bhopal, May 20 (UNI) Various newspaper organisations today expressed gratitude to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for implementing new provisions pertaining to advertisements under a Public Relations Policy.
Accordingly, 50 per cent budget of display advertisements would be spent on ads to small and medium category newspapers and magazines. The rules regarding regularity, level and verification of circulation of newspapers have been made more stringent.
Official sources claimed here that Madhya Pradesh is the first state to provide half the ad budget to small and medium category newspapers and magazines.
The State Rate of ads to newspapers has been doubled and small newspapers and magazines exempted from 15 per cent deduction made on display ads. Besides, community newspapers and rural neighbourhood journalism were made eligible for government ads.
Special cooperation in the form of advertisement would be extended to publications focussed on literature, society, culture, environment, women and children.
The Madhya Pradesh Working Journalists' Union; Central Press Club, Bhopal; Madhya Pradesh Shramjeevi Patrakar Sangh and Madhya Pradesh Krantikari Patrakar Sangh welcomed the Policy and expected the regime to effectively implement labour laws.
