Marginal increase in day temperatures in HP
Shimla, May 20 (UNI) Maximum temperatures across Himachal Pradesh increased by a few notches today after two days of storm and rain that caused havoc in various parts of the state.
The met office said Shimla recorded a high of 26.1 degree Celsius as against 25.6 degrees recorded yesterday, while Sundernagar in Mandi district and Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded a high of 34.1 and 32.1 degrees respectively.
Kalpa in Kinnuar recorded a day temperature of 22.8 degrees, it said.
A gale and heavy rains had caused disruptions across parts of the state for the last two days as power lines were knocked down and road closed after trees were uprooted.
Strong velocity winds up to 40 to 50 km per hour blew across the state following the presence of strong western disturbance over Northern Pakistan, bringing rain and storm.
The met office said the minimum temperatures, however, fell by a few degrees with Shimla recording a low of 12.6 degrees, Sundernagar 19.2, Bhuntar 16.1 and 8.5 degrees at Kalpa.
It also predicted rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in the state in next 24 hrs.
