Fool-proof security arrangements for local bodies elections

Bhagalpur, May 20 (UNI) Bihar State Election Commission today said fool-proof security arrangements have been made for free and fair local bodies elections in the state.

Speaking to newspersons on the growing disruptive naxalite activities in six districts of East Bihar, State Election Commissioner (SEC) J K Dutta said armed security personnel would be deployed at all booths of the area.

The steps taken during the 2005 Bihar Assembly polls would be repatriated in these elections, on May 26 and 29, he added.

''Porous Indo-Nepal border in the state will be sealed well ahead of the polling day to check infiltration of criminals into the state from across the border,'' the SEC informed.

Mr Dutta further informed, ''Women polling personnel will be deployed in such booths, where number of female voters are high.

He said instruction were issued for video-recording of the polling process at some sensitive booths.
