Eleven people killed in two accidents in AP

Hyderabad, May 20 (UNI) Eleven people were killed and six others injured in two accidents in Andhra Pradesh today.

Police said seven villagers were killed on the spot and five others injured, four of them seriously, when a sugarcane-laden lorry ran over them at Kaduru village in Chittoor district.

The accident occured when the driver of the lorry, proceeding to a sugar factory, lost control of the vehicle and ran over the villagers taking shelter under a tree. The injured were admitted to the Srikalahasti Government Hospital.

In the other accident, four persons were killed and another injured when a private bus collided with a van at Burravagu bridge in Mahaboobnagar district. The bus was proceeding to Hyderabad from Bangalore and the van was on its way to Tirupati from Kurnool.

While the van driver died on the spot, the bus driver and two passengers succumbed to their injuries at Mahaboobnagar hospital. The condition of the van cleaner was critical, police added.
