CPI(M) condemns violence in Singur
Kolkata, May 20 (UNI) Holding Trinamool Congress responsible for today's violence in Singur, CPI (M) state committee secretary Biman Bose condemned the attack on police near Tata's small car project unit in Singur.
He said in a statement that the CPI (M) would organise state-wide protest meetings on May 22 in order to protest the Trinamool Congress and other opposition party's ''pre-planned'' attack on policemen.
''The angry mob had hurled bombs, stones and attacked policemen with sharp weapons,'' he said adding a few policemen were injured in the incident.
Police was forced to lathicharge in order to disperse the violent mob and also used tear gas shells, he said.
In order to scuttle the process of industrialisation in Singur, the Trinamool Congress and some other parties were fanning ''lawlessness'' and ''unrest'' in the state, he observed.
''Villagers in Singur have co-operted thoroughly to start the process of industrialisation in Singur. The forces against industrialisation have failed to gain any support from people,'' he maintained.
