Case registered against Sacha Sauda chief

Bathinda, May 20: The Punjab Police today registered a case against Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, chief of Sacha Sauda Dera, Sirsa under section 295 A of the IPC, an official release here said.

The Baba has been charged with indulging in a deliberate or malicious act which was intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or its religious beliefs.

The FIR registered at Kotwali police station, follows the complaint by President Khalsa Dewan Rajinder Singh Sidhu and Guru Singh Sabha, Bhatinda and an inquiry conducted by IG Zonal M K Tewari.

Dera Sacha Sauda had yesterday expressed regret for having hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community after the Baba was shown in an advertisment attired like the tenth Guru Gobind Singh. The advertisment had led to protests and clashes between member of the Dera and various 'panthic' groups.
