Arson in Dungarpur over police inaction in murder case.

Jaipur, May 20 (UNI) Four government vehicles were set ablaze by irate villagers of Chikli area in Dungarpur district today, demanding arrest of those responsible for the murder of a young girl.

According to polices sources, a young girl of Chikli village was killed by slitting her throat in the village on April 20. The villagers organised a 'dharna' at Kua Chauki protesting the police inaction in resolving the murder mystery and arrest the culprit.

Police said the dharna turned violent when about 2,500-3,000 villagers gathered there attacked the police chauki with stones and indulged in arson. They set ablaze four government vehicles parked in the chauki.

The vehicles included the Gypsy of DYSP, two jeep of Chikli police station and a jeep of the SDO. Six motor cylces also faced the wrath of the irate villagers.

Later, senior officials of the district administration reached there with additional police contingent and brought the situation under control. The situation there is said to be tense but under control.
