3 pavement dwellers killed as private bus runs over them

Mumbai, May 20 (UNI) Three pavement dwellers, including two children, were killed and two others injured when a private bus ran over them while they were asleep on the pavement along the Western Express Highway early today.

Police said the bus belonged to Hindustan Plantinium Company, owned by D C Gupta and Sons. The accident occurred between Borivali and Dahisar near the Gokulanand junction.

The deceased have been identified as Mangala Baburao Gaikwad (35), her daughter Maina (4) and Ajay Yadav (3 years).

Mangala's son Prakash and Ajay's father Raja have been admitted to the Bhagwati Hospital with injuries.

Police said the driver of the bus fled after the accident. The accident occured was the driver lost control over the vehicle.
