Venkaiah spikes opposition to globalisation

Bangalore, May 19 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Venkaiah Naidu today said instead of expressing opposition to globalisation, the country should be prepared to face its challenges.

Speaking at a function held at the PES Institute of Technology here, he said the people of the country were intelligent enough to face any competition, but there was need to sharpen the intelligence.

''In a competative world, we have to accept and face the challenges of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation which are meant to ensure prosperity,''he said.

Calling for public and private participation in the development, Mr Naidu said government alone cannot provide jobs to all, Private sectors should come forward to create more jobs. There was need for Public-Private participation in improviing quality of education.

''The government is responsibility can be expected only infrastructure development,''he said.

Central Food and Technology Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore Director Dr V Prakash, in his address, called upon the students to take up teaching profession as there were more vacancies.

Dr Prakash said that Engineering graduates should venture in to becoming entrepreneurs instead of seeking jobs.

''Market force may scare those who want to start their own companies but one should not stop and if good quality was maintained the market would come to you,'' he added.
