Two ganja smugglers convicted for 10 years

Shillong, May 19 (UNI) The court of special judge (NDPS Act) has sentenced two cannabis smugglers to ten-year imprisonment and fined them Rs 1 lakh each, a customs and preventive official said today.

The special judge passed his judgement on H Kala Singh and Mohan Singh here yesterday.

The accused were arrested on February 6, 2006 at Umtyngar bridge here after they were caught red-handed for smuggling 2400 kg of ganja.

If the two fail to pay the fine then their imprisonment would be increased by two more years.
