Several injured in explosion

Kokrajhar, May 19 (UNI) Several people were injured, one of them critically, when ULFA activists lobbed a grenade in the heart of the Barpeta Road town in Barpeta district of lower Asom today.

According to police, two ULFA militants, who came for extortion, were caught by the local people this noon and lobbed a grenade in a bid to escape but were unsuccessful.

Several people sustained injuries in the explosion, while one of them was stated to be critical.

The militants, identified as Arun Talukdar and Bidya Roy, were handed over to the police.
