Sangma not in presidential race

Indore, May 19 (UNI) Former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma today denied that he was in the race for the President.

Speakingon the recently-concluded Budget Session, Mr Sangma told reporters here today that passing of law without discussion in Parliament within five minutes was not proper. Every political party must understand its responsibility, he underlined.

He said foreign origin issue against Congress President Sonia Gandhi still loomed large and he was firm on his stand. He would stick to his guns whenever the issue was raised again in future.

Replying to a question, he said no issue would stand in the way of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime Minister.

Mr Sangma added that judiciary would not interfere if the executive functioned properly.
